Crimson Cup Happy to Be in Clintonville!

At the 12th Annual Celebrate Clintonville Awards Dinner and Silent Auction on February 17th, The Clintonville Area Chamber of Commerce awarded the coffeehouse Crimson Cup as its 2011 Business of the Year.
Headquartered in Bexley, Ohio, Crimson Cup, primarily a provider of specialty coffee to coffeehouses throughout the United States, opened its first and only coffeehouse five years ago in Clintonville.
“We have been a provider of coffee to businesses for 20 years, but we never had our own coffee shop,” founder and president Greg Ubert said. “We decided to open a business in Clintonville, so we could show the area what we do around the world.”
Traveling to places such as South America, Indonesia and Africa, Crimson Cup buys unroasted coffee straight from the farmers. The coffee gets shipped to thousands of independent coffeehouses in 28 states across the United States.
The reason Ubert said he chose Clintonville for his only store is because of the strong values that permeate the area.
“Clintonville is about community and that is exactly what we were interested in,” he said. The business also needed a place where it could test out new products to eager coffee drinkers. Ubert thought Clintonville residents would be up for the task.
Besides providing delicious coffee to local residents, Crimson Cup also has been an active part of the community. Donating money and time, the business has been involved in a variety of community projects. Some of the projects the group has worked on include participating in the Penny Harvest at Colerain Elementary School, raising money for the annual Clintonville 4th of July Fireworks Celebration, donating coffee to an array of events and serving on multiple community boards.
“Doing community service shows the community that we are involved and that we want this area to grow and thrive,” said Alisha Boyd, general manager for Crimson Cup in Clintonville. “It lets people know that we care about Clintonville and that we plan on being a part of this community for a long time.”
With an estimated 8,000 people stopping by their Clintonville store a month, it doesn’t look like the store is going anywhere anytime soon.
“We love this community and we are so thankful that they like our business and have continued to support us,” Boyd said.
